The first step in buying glasses online is to choose the style that appeals to you. What material (plastic or metal) do you prefer? What design (full frame, half frame, or rimless frame) do you prefer? What shape do you prefer (oval, rectangular, round, cat eye, aviator)? And then, what color do you prefer? If you can answer these questions now, you should go to our frame search function, which allows you to select among our inventory for these items and others. If you have no idea what you are looking for, ask a friend, or call us and we will help you.
There are also some general guidelines about how to pick a frame shape that looks best on your face. If you have an oval face shape, rectangular glasses look best, and if you have a rectangular face, oval glasses look best. Follow this link to read more about choosing glasses for face shape.

We have made the lens selection process simple by supplying you with a Lens Wizard to guide you through the process. The Lens Wizard asks you questions about yourself, and then moves you step by step through the lens selection process. At each point, you can read about lenses, evaluate the choices and prices of each lens option, and then choose for yourself.
How to buy eyewear: the fit
Usually your eyeglasses fit without any adjustments needed. Of all the clothing and accessories that you hang on your body, eyeglasses are among the easiest to customize and adapt to your body. Eyeglass frames are designed so that they can be adjusted (bent) if necessary to accommodate most any facial structure.
In most cases you will not need a fitting, but if you do want one, you can take your glasses to a local optical store to fit eyeglasses. Most opticians will fit eyeglasses for free; if they charge you a fee, we will reimburse you for their eyeglasses fitting fee up to a maximum of $15. Just fax us the receipt and we will credit your account.
You could also try adjusting your eyeglasses by yourself. However, if you choose to adjust the frame yourself, you should be extremely careful as you could permanently damage or break your eyeglass frames. Follow this link to read more about adjusting your eyeglasses yourself.
How to buy eyewear: the right size eyewear for you
Getting the right size glasses for you is a combination of choosing the right frame style and then fitting the glasses to your face. You can measure your current eyeglasses with a ruler and use them as a guide. Because lenses are custom made to fit the frames you pick and your particular prescription, no matter what size frame you choose, the lenses will be in the perfect place in front of your eyes. Most people choose frames that are approximately the same width as their head. Follow this link to get sizing information about eyewear.
Again, most frames will work for most people, and if you decide you dont like a frame that we send you for any reason, just send it back for a full refund.
Lens positioning: Look through the middle
The goal of the eyeglass frames is to comfortably position the optical center of the lenses directly in front of the center of your eyes. When you give us your pupillary distance or pd
, we know exactly where to position the center of the lenses in the frames that you choose. Side to side movement of the frame on your face could move the optical center of the lenses away from in front of your eyes, but this rarely happens. What can happen is that the glasses move up or down your nose, taking the optical center with them. When this happens, it may become harder for you to see through the lenses, so you know that you need to adjust the glasses (push them up on your nose, for example). Small adjustments to the nosepads or temples can help to reduce the up and down movement of the glasses.
