Vera Bradley Eyewear
Vera Bradley Eyewear is the creation of two co-founders: The Vera Bradley design ethic stems from stylish quilted cotton luggage, handbags, Vera Bradley eyewear, and accessories by combining smart product designs along with colorful fabrics and trims. It was 30 years ago that a friendship and a simple idea began that has now become the company Vera Bradley. The company was founded by Patricia R. Miller and Barbara Bradley Baaekgaard. Today, they have the reputation as being a leader in the gift industry.
All of this started in the month of March 1982 when Patricia and Barbara were in Atlanta waiting for their flight where they noticed none of the women in the airport for carrying any feminine looking luggage. In just a few weeks after waiting for their flight in Atlanta they started a company, named after Barbara's mother, Vera, who helped the two market and manufacture the products they designed. The demand for their products has massively increased, and with the aid of Vera Bradley eyewear, they are now nationally and internationally popular and recognized. Today they are based in Ft. Wayne Indiana and they are unwavering in their commitment to excellent quality, exclusive designs, and the highest level of customer service.
Vera Bradley History
Veronica Bradley, mother of Vera Bradley's co-founder Barbara Baekgaard was born on August 9, 1909. In the 1930s Veronica was personally chosen by Elizabeth Arden to become a model and it was Veronica's classic style and grace that inspired Barbara and Patricia to name their company after her in 1982. Veronica worked for the company as a sales representative in Miami until she died in the early 1990s. She always lived a full, fun and colorful life and the fashions and styles of her daughter Barbara are reflective of her life and influence on the company. Since 1993, the Vera Bradley foundation for breast cancer has raised $25.7 million in contributions to date. Vera Bradley is actively involved in breast Cancer research and prevention.
The loss of our dear friend and colleague, Mary Sloan, in 1993 was the inspiration for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. It is through the celebration of her life, and the lives and legacies of all who have braved the disease, that we remain steadfast in our commitment to create a community of hope around breast cancer.
