Furla Sunglasses History

Furla was founded by Aldo Furlanetto in Bologna, Italy, in 1927.  Initially, he was distribution fashionable ladies products and accessories at wholesale, including sunglasses, and in 1955  he opened his first store in Bologna, which is still open today.  The company grew, and his family grew, and in the 1970's his children Carlo, Paolo and Giovanna joined the company. They then launched the first Furla brand bag and accessory collection, and continued the expansion by opening a sales network in Italy, France and the US.

In 2015, Furla inaugurated its Palazzo Furla store in the heart of Milan, Italy’s fashion capital. It is now a family-owned, international company with a seasoned executive team who manage over 1,600 employees, 90% of whom are women representing 100 different nationalities and an average age of 36.

After 100 years, Furla continues to be 100% Italian in spirit. Furla is the only premium brand in the world that has not deviated from providing customers with an authentic Italian experience at an attractive price point.
