Oakley's Polarized OO Red Iridium lenses are designed to reduce glare while driving.  These are the perfect lenses for sunny road conditions.  When the sun is high and hot, these lenses will reduce eye strain by preventing reflected glare from wearing down on your eyes.  While the polarization filter is great for hot road conditions, they are suboptimal for icy conditions because you need to be able to see the reflected glare coming from the ice so you can avoid it.   Oakley Polarized OO Red Iridium Lenses have a light transmission rate of 20%, so they are designed for bright light situations.   They offer increased contrast, which is great for reading the terrain.  Being polarized, the lenses act like a Venetian blind, protecting you against reflected glare which is great in certain situations like on-the-water, driving, etc.  This lens is available to be made into prescription sunglasses.
